Fin de Ville is a loose french translation of our name: Townsend, and we think it is a perfect name for our farm.
In 2008 the Townsend family purchased 143 beautiful acres of land in the very southwest corner of the City of Ottawa. We wanted to create an equestrian facility where horses and riders benefit from top notch training and coaching and at the same time feel welcome – a part of the Fin de Ville Family.
When we purchased the property, the only structure on it was a lovely old log building. We converted it to a 4 stall barn. The stalls range in size from 11X14 to 12X16. While we believe that is is healthier for horses to live outside with good run-ins, the stalls are available when they are required. We also built 6 paddocks with shelters; a large hay storage barn, and now 2 farm houses.
In 2012, we built a large indoor riding arena. The arena is 80′ by 180′, large enough to teach young horses to canter. We also have a very large outdoor grass dressage and jump field and a 1.1 km short turf galloping track.
Fin de Ville is also a small Therapeutic Riding centre. Patty Townsend is certified by the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association.
Fin de Ville is not a commercial boarding facility. We only provide short term board for horses who are here on training. Check out our services page.
